Our four Toy Fox Terriers, (Aida, Bella, Bob, and Coal) are very much family members. The fifth dog you see in the pictures is our beloved Leia who is living with our son now.
They each have their own crate but when we are home, it is rare that they are not out with us. When we only had one TFT there was no crate and Frank even slept with us. They would all love to be in bed with us. Quite often Bella gets to sit on the bed in the morning and share an english muffin with my husband.
A typical day in our home starts around 6:00AM. Dogs are all let out together unless one of the girls is in heat and then the boys and girls go out separately. While they are out, their breakfast is prepared and my coffee is started. (Not always in that order.) Once breakfast is done (5 minutes), everyone is out for lap time while I have coffee. That can last anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour depending on how much news I can stand. Then outside for a run in the yard and playtime for about 30 minutes. They all come in and just hang out while I do whatever household chores need to be done. They usually sit in a chair and watch. If I need to run errands they are put back in their crates with a dental chew and are safe and secure until I return. At some point in the day we go for about a two mile walk and then sit around until dinner time which is usually between 5 and 6:00PM. After dinner we watch TV together. When they hear the "click" of the TV going off, they hop down and run to their crates for bed usually between 8:30 and 9:00PM. They go out for potty breaks at different times throughout the day. We practice our sits, downs and stays spontaneously throughout the day as well. Always have to work for a treat.
They are such a joy to have and I can't imagine life without them.
